Enugu to experience 10-day power outage over rehabilitation of TCN’s transmission substation

The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL), a subsidiary of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EEDC), says there will be a planned power outage in parts of Enugu state for a 10-day period.

In a statement on Monday, Emeka Ezeh, Mainpower’s head of corporate communications, said the outage will commence on October 22, and end on October 31, between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

“This is part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reinforcement projects by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) at its New Haven Station,” the statement reads.

“The exercise will affect the following 33KV feeders in line with the specified dates as follows: Kingsway line 1 on 22nd October, followed by Emene Industrial line 1 on 23rd October, Thinkers Corner on 24th October, Trans Ekulu on 25th October, Kingsway line 2 and 9th mile on 26th October, Emene Industrial line 2 on 28th October, Ugwuogo on the 29th October, transmission substation and Ituku Ozalla, on 31st October, 2025.”

Consequently, MainPower said customers connected to the affected feeders will experience a power interruption only on the specific day their feeder is scheduled for maintenance.

The company expressed regret for any inconvenience the exercise may cause its valued customers and appealed for their understanding, noting that the project is intended to enhance service quality.
