The Federal Government has announced that Monday and Tuesday, May 25 and 26 respectively, have been declared as public holidays to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan fasting.

The Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, through a statement by the Director Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mr Mohammed Manga, on Thursday in Abuja.

While expressing concerns over the recent ethnic conflicts in some Northern parts of the country, Aregbesola urged all be an example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

He advised all to take responsibility against the spread of COVID-19 and also stay safe by observing all safety measures issued by relevant authorities.

Aregbesola reminded Muslims to always obey constituted authorities as stated in the Glorious Qu’ran 4:59 where Allah says: ‘O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you.

‘If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination’.

Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, wishing them a happy Eidul -Fitr celebration.
