EFCC arrests 11 Internet fraudsters in Rivers

The Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said its operatives arrested 11 suspected Internet fraudsters in Ozuoba, in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the suspects were nabbed in an early morning sting operation.Uwujaren said items recovered during the raid included a Lexus SUV, laptops, television sets, among others.

“They were arrested through surveillance and verified intelligence on their suspicious Internet-related criminal activities.“Items recovered from them included one wine-coloured Lexus ES 350 car, six Plasma TV sets, three laptops, 10 mobile phones of different brands, one LG Home Theatre, one black and red speaker, one Hisense Speaker, one Hisense Sound Bar, five Automated Teller Machine cards of different banks and two Apple wristwatches.

“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded,” the agency added.
