Commuters stranded as commercial drivers protest against taskforce in Lagos

Commuters in Lagos on Tuesday, September 1, woke up to a rude shock as commercial drivers refused to convey them to their destinations over what they described as high level of extortion by the personnel of the state task force.

The drivers who carried placards called for an end to the taskforce.

According to a driver who identified himself as Friday at Igando area of Lagos, taskforce members have made it their hobby to raid them indiscriminately.

He said they have to pay a minimum of N35,000 before their buses are released. He said the drivers can no longer tolerate the maltreatment again.

Another driver who spoke to Legit.ng in the same area said that the time has come for the state government to disband the Lagos taskforce.

Francis Nnwadu added that the taskforce has become a menace in their lives and because of them, they (drivers) can not function maximally.

"How much do we make that the taskforce people continue to frustrate us. This harrassment must stop and the state government must disband Lagos taskforce. They are making life unbearable for us," he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the chairman of NURTW Lagos branch, MC Olumo, has celebrated his daughter, Falilat Seun Akinsanya as she bagged a degree from the University of Miami.

In a post on his Instagram account on Saturday, May 9, he spoke about how he is so proud of her and how the whole family wishes her further successes and achievements.

He also used the opportunity to pray that every parent will reap from the labour they have invested in bringing up their children.
