The Osun Masterminds, TOM, an Osun based civil society organisation has called on the state governor, Ademola Adeleke to caution his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

The group speaking through its Executive Director, Professor Easily Oyedokun-Alli during its monthly state of the state address on Monday in Osogbo alleged that the style and approach of the governor's Spokesperson has been driven largely by dishonesty and excessive dramatization of events.

According to Oyedokun-Alli, "You will recall that recently, in an official release of the State Government, the Spokesperson claimed that an attempt was made to assassinate the Governor at the Osogbo Eid Praying ground.

"Several video footage that surfaced later showed that the narrative was untrue as the Governor was shown exiting the praying ground while acknowledging greetings from members of the public.

"In the same statement, he claimed that a Member of the House of Representatives was beaten at the praying ground. This was also confirmed to be untrue.

"Do note that we condemn in strong terms, the disrespect meted to the Office of the Governor at the Eid praying ground. The Office of Mr. Governor is a representation of millions of Osun people and must therefore be respected by anyone and everyone."

Oyedokun-Alli also urged the governor to also caution his Spokesperson to desist from his style of over-dramatising events in a manner that can cause civil unrest.

"In reporting government’s condemnation of the disrespect meted to Mr. Governor, the Spokesperson did not have to tell such lies capable of setting the State on fire.

"Dishonesty is not a responsible approach to public communication and Mr. Spokesperson must learn that before he puts the Adeleke government in dilemma," the group maintained.
