The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is organising a unity prayer rally for the restoration of peace in Imo State.

The event which comes up on Friday, July 2 at Hero’s Square, Owerri is tagged “Imo Prays” with a theme “In such a time as this,” will attract all Christian leaders and associations in the country.

Addressing reporters in Owerri, the Chairman, CAN, Imo State, Eches Divine Eches said the event was put together to bring about unity, harmony and restoration of peace in the state.

“It is a prayer for unity, harmony and restoration of peace which already we have started seeing the impact and input. It is time for us to come together as people, relegate those things that divide us and promote those things that bring us together as a people.

We have ensured that all 27 local government areas and 305 wards would participate. All our local government leaders ànd church leaders are equally mobilizing for the programme.’

He said that without peace there would be no meaningful development in the state and country in general. “Peace is paramount in everything because when there is no peace hotels, churches, higher institutions, markets and Secretariat will be closed. That is why we are calling on everyone to make out time to attend the prayer rally.”

Those expected to attend the programme are Executive Secretary of Christians Primage of Nigeria (CPN), Rev. Yakubu Pam, Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Bishop SK Uche, Primate of Anglican Communion, Primate Henry Ndukuba, National Vice President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and Southern CAN Chairman, His Grace Bishop Maxwell Okorie and President of Baptist Fellowship of Nigeria and Chairman of the Planning Committee Bishop A Onyeziri Titus.
