Months after warning Nigerians not to post the food they eat and other lifestyle on social media, the Minister of Communications, Isa Pantami, has supported a post showing his Sallah meat.

Pantami who spoke at the 29th convocation lecture of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, had said that Nigerians suffer insecurity due to the information they share on social media.

“Some people when you visit their social media platform for one week, you’ll be able to know their State. You’ll be able to know where they live in Niger state or in Abuja. You will be able to know where they travelled. You will be able to know the mosque or church they attend every week.

“With this, you will be able to know the total number of their children, you will be able to know where they work. In fact, you will be able to see the number of their ticket while travelling from Abuja to Lagos", he said.

He continued: “Some people reach the external people posting the picture of their lunch or dinner on social media. It is very common, sometimes, exposing our kids that are not up to five years of age to the dangers of this life. You will see him snapping picture with his kids and posting on social media without even knowing the implication.”

He revealed that the information put on social media exposes one's privacy such that strangers "can produce a comprehensive report" about one's personality.

He said, “Today, there are so many experts in the world, so many underground experts in the world that you don’t even need to tell them about you. You don’t need to give them any data. Tell them that I need more information about this guy. They will go through his Twitter, through his Facebook, identify his movement, what he has been doing, where he works. With this, within a day or 24 hours, they will produce a comprehensive report about that personality for you because we don’t have anything that is hidden".

Months later, Pantami took to Twitter to respond to a tweet which had pictures of him and the Sallah meat he bought for his family in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

Twitter user, @AdamIsmailAhma5 shared the pictures in praise of the minister.

"Very amazing and surprise to see the minister of Nigeria @DrIsaPantami and famous Islamic scholar Working for the family at home during this time of blessing & forgiveness. May Allah continue to bless you & your entire family. Always enjoyed your taf'sir through express radio kano", he wrote.

The minister responded saying: "Ameen Yaa Hayyu Yaa Qayyum. Just doing the little we can. We have been taught to always support our family. Many thanks and best wishes".
