AGF Malami, Kano AG ordered my detention - Sanusi

Muhammadu Sanusi II Muhammadu Sanusi II

Muhammadu Sanusi II has alleged that he was ordered to be detained by the Attorney General of Kano State, Ibrahim Muktar, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, SAN.

Sanusi was on Monday dethroned as the Emir of Kano by the Kano State Government over “total disrespect for lawful instructions from the office of the state government”.

He was also accused of failing to turn up for official meetings organized by the State Government without any lawful justification.

According to Sanusi, the order which lead to his dethronement, arrest and banishment to Nasarawa State was given from Abuja.

The former Emir who has now regained his freedom claimed to have been denied a fair hearing in the ruling that led to his dethronement.

Sanusi also revealed that a friend had sent an aircraft to pick him up and be flown to Lagos after he was dethroned, but that was stopped as the commissioner of police in Kano State ordered him to be flown in another aircraft without his family.

This is contained in a suit he filed before a Federal High Court in Thursday which granted him his release.
