2027: Lamido’s son set to contest gov’ship election in Jigawa

Alhaji Mustafa Sule-Lamido, son of former Jigawa State governor, has won the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will represent the party in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made by the Returning Officer for the primary election, Mr Isa Ahmed, on Sunday, May 24, after he emerged as the sole candidate of the party.

He noted that Sule-Lamido had complied with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

In his acceptance speech, Sule-Lamido expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party.

According to him, the recognition isn't new to him as he contested and was entrusted with the same position in 2023.

He stressed that together they could run a campaign rooted in unity, hope, reform and promise of a better Jigawa.

“Though we did not secure victory then, we earned the confidence of hundreds of thousands of our people and laid a strong foundation,” he said.
