2023: Suspense as PDP Deputy Gov breaks silence on his rumoured defection to APC

Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya of Sokoto Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya of Sokoto

Deputy Governor Manir Muhammad Dan’iya of Sokoto has given a cryptic reaction to claims that he is planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

There have been reports that Dan’iya was saddened by the fact that Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the leadership of the PDP in the state gave the governorship slot to the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma.

However, Dan’iya urged voters in the northern state to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen in Sokoto on Tuesday, November 1, by Bashar Abubakar, the media aide to Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North).

Abubakar said the latest defections were recorded at the Isa local government area of the state. He added that those who defected to the APC were the PDP ward executives at Turba, Bafarawa, Bargaja wards and other prominent personalities from the area.
