It has been reported that ten worshippers have died after a church building collapsed on them in Delta state.

The Salvation Ministry in Opanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area came down as a service was in session around 5:55 pm on Tuesday, January 11.

According to The Nation, this is the first time the church building is being used.

However, eight people were rescued unhurt while four persons were taken to the Asaba specialist Hospital for treatment.

The Delta government officials, including Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Chief Patrick Ukah; Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi; team of Red Cross officials and fire fighters were present at the scene.

Several worshippers, family members and sympathisers were heard whaling after the incident occurred.
