The immediate past Managing Director of United Bank for Africa, Tanzania, Kingsley Ulinfun, has indicated his interest to contest the 2024 governorship election in Edo State on the Labour Party platform.

Ulinfun said that if given the party’s ticket and he emerges winner at the poll, his policies would largely be on the LP’s ideology of social democracy for the overall betterment of the people.

The aspirant said his unblemished 30-year experience in the financial sector speaks volumes of his plans for the state.

Ulinfun, who disclosed this during a meeting with his supporters in Benin, also pledged economic opportunities and business support through the provision of N5m grant each to 2,500 youths and women.

He said, “With your support, I will give N5m grants to 2,500 youths and women every year. They will in turn create 50,000 jobs for themselves.

“This policy is to bring to reality their entrepreneurial drive as to make them creators of jobs to fasten the developmental drive to the grassroots in the state.

“I was in the financial sector for 30 years and I will bring that experience to bear if given the LP ticket and eventually voted in as the next governor of the state.”

He also pledged to make education, infrastructure development, roads, primary health care and health insurance for all Edo citizens his priorities.

He promised to be transparent in governance if elected, adding that he would work for the good and welfare of Edo State citizens.
