Bola Ahmed Tinubu was affirmed as the winner of the February 25 presidential elections by the Supreme Court early this month.

His victory wasn't as easy as the ruling party would have expected due to the new wave created by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and his supporters who are popularly called Obidients.

The presidential candidate of the leading political parties made tonnes of promises to Nigerians prior, however, President Tinubu who was then a candidate promised to continue the fight against corruption like his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu pledged to continue Buhari's civil service reforms to reduce corruption.

He made this known in 2022 in Abuja while unveiling his campaign policy document.

While speaking he said his administration would ensure the reduction of waste in the civil services if he succeeds Buhari in 2023.

“We will continue the work of the current administration in reforming the civil service to fight corruption, reduce bureaucracy, streamline agencies and decrease inefficiency and waste,” the document reads in part.

Tinubu has been criticized for being corrupt and accumulating untraceable wealth.

Many times, the former Lagos governor had refused to respond to queries on the ownership of Alpha Beta, a private company that collects tax on behalf of the state for a percentage.

He is believed to have large shares in the company, which assumed Lagos tax administration under him as governor of Lagos State.
