The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, are delusional about their optimism of securing victory in their appeal at the Supreme Court.

According to The Nation, the ruling APC believed that the confidence of the opposition in its appeal at the Supreme Court was a vain exercise, adding that Atiku and the PDP are on the journey of another round of "spectacular defeat."

On Monday, October 23, the Supreme Court reserved its judgment on the PDP and Atiku's appeal against the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which was delivered on September 6.

The PEPC dismissed the petition of Atiku and the PDP on the grounds that it lacked evidence to back up their claims and uphold the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

ustice John Okoro-led seven-member panel made the announcement to the counsels of the parties following the adoption of their briefs and making of their final submission.

Felix Morka, the APC national publicity secretary in a statement in Abuja on Monday, dismissed the optimism of the PDP and Atiku, saying that the opposition was swimming “deep in hallucination.” His statement partly reads:

“Court cases are won on the strength of cogent, credible, compelling or substantial evidence, not on hollow, implausible, capricious tales and fabrications of the kind that Atiku Abubakar dumped on the court."
