The Supreme Court on Monday, October 23, maintained there were conflicting letters from the Chicago State University (CSU) on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's certificate.

Justice John Okoro, chairman of the 7-member panel hearing the application of Atiku Abubakar, flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), filed against the victory of Tinubu, made this statement on Monday.

At the hearing, Justice Okoro said criminal matters must be proved beyond reasonable doubt, Daily Trust reported.

“But in this case, there are two conflicting letters from the CSU – one authenticating the president’s certificate and another discrediting it. Which do we rely on?” he queried.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Supreme Court on Monday, October 23, reserved judgment in the appeal by Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

The appeal is against the September 6 judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election.
