Akpabio was my destiny helper in 2015 - Dave Umahi recounts; gives another reason why he stepped down from Senate race

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi has disclosed another reason why he pulled out from the race for Senate President.

Recall the Umahi had declared his intention to contest the position but later withdrew early this month.

According to him, the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, invited him and pleaded with him to drop his ambition.

The governor said he agreed with the pleas of the president-elect and decided to endorse the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, as the next senate president.

The governor made the disclosure on Friday night while addressing journalists shortly after he had a meeting with Mr. Akpabio.

However, speaking an exclusive interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, May 17, Umahi noted that he dropped his ambition because Akpabio who the party has selected to lead the Senate in the 10th Assembly is like a brother to him.

"I decided not to run the moment my party zoned the presidency to the south-south and to Akpabio. Akpabio is my brother and my friend and I have every reason to even support him."
