An Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld the election victory of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This comes after the tribunal on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, dismissed the petition filed by Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the victory of Akeredolu.

Jegede's petition lacked jurisdictional merit. Justice Umar said as he delivered the ruling via Zoom.

According to the tribunal: ''The issue raised therein in this petition are settled the issue of internal affairs and management of a political party which this Tribunal has no Jurisdiction.''

The publication stated that the Ondo governor in his reaction hailed Ondo residents for the confidence reposed in his administration. He asked Jegede to join him in developing the state, saying there was no need for further litigations
