Former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba has stated that the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu is qualified to run for the presidency in 2023.

His statement comes after a number of political juggernauts raised concerns about his ambition when the rumors went rife.

According to Osoba, Tinubu, who is also a founding father of the party can choose to run for the highest office of the land should he choose to.

He made this known on Arise TV on Tuesday, January 5.

Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor, has also been rumored to be eyeing the country's highest stool, though no official pronouncement has been made from the camp of the APC chieftain.

But Osoba reiterated that Tinubu is an individual who has the right to vote and be voted for.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an individual has the right to put himself forward, we have not zeroed in on an individual. Zeroing in on any individual will destroy our efforts now but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has a right to pursue his own agenda."Osoba, who swung the pendulum back to the formation of the APC, said the southwest region is the center of the progressive movement in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the APC national leader has been urged to drop the presidential ambition for 2023.

The appeal was made on Wednesday, December 23, by a former lawmaker and Senate chief whip, Roland Owie, Legit.com reports.

Owie further explained that justice is to allow other regions to produce President Muhammadu Buhari's successor since the zoning arrangement began from the southwest.

Owie argued that for the sake of peace and justice, the southeast should be allowed to produce the next president.
