Shambolic prosecution, no court-ordered witness statements, Sowore trolls FG again

Convener of the #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore has given details about day 2 of the trial between himself and the Federal Government.

Recall that yesterday, Publisher of Sahara Reporters said the Federal Government was unprepared for the case. Today, he called the prosection shambolic as the Federal Government failed to show up with court-ordered witness statements.

Lambasting the government, he revealed that all was provided was a summary statement earlier served which was rejected by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.

"#RevolutionNow Trial Day 2: The Shambolic prosecution of our case continued today as NIGERIA govt Prosecutors could not provide court-ordered witness statements, fed prosecutors again served us summary statements earlier served and rejected by Judge in Nov.’19 #RevolutionNow," Sowore tweeted.



In addition, the Federal Government confirmed payment of the sum of N200, 000 to the defense team in the trial of the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore and another.

Prosecution counsel, A.K. Alilu informed the court that the office of the Attorney General of the Federation complied with the order of the court by making the payment which was the cost for delayed service of new charges.

This was after the Judge was displeased by the Attorney General of the Federation’s office, which took over the prosecution of the case from the Department of State Services in December, but failed to serve the amended charges and other documents relating to the case on the defense counsel to enable the trial to commence as scheduled.

She promised not to entertain the case if the prosecution failed to present evidence of the payment of the N200,000 fine or come to court with the cash.
