You should be declared winner if you won the elections - Sowore shuts Obi, Atiku

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore has said that no presidential candidate can claim victory in the just-ended elections because the process was shambolic.

Sowore made this known when he spoke in an interview on Arise TV on Friday, March 3, two days after Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the winner of the elections.

When asked why he hadn't declared himself the winner like Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar had done, he noted that it wasn't logical that you emerged winner when you were not declared as such by INEC.

"My claim is clear. You can not dilly-dally about who won and who didn't win an election that wasn't properly conducted. Elections are supposed to be free, fair and credible."

"Someone cannot claim that he won in an election that is described a shambolic election. So where is the victory going to take you when you said the elections didn't meet the standard of an election? If you won the election then you should be able to be declared as the winner. That's the logical thing to do."

Sowore has rejected the results of the February 25th presidential election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He maintained that the results announced by INEC did not “reflect the will of the people.”

He also decried the failure of the INEC to transmit the results to its portal electronically.
