Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said the political crisis rocking Rivers State was being looked into by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to The Nation, Wike, a former governor of the state, disclosed the development after a meeting with the PDP Governors in Abuja on Tuesday, October 31.

Wike stated that the PDP has taken over the crisis and that it was never an ethnic issue as against speculation.

The Rivers State House of Assembly earlier served impeachment notice on Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Monday, October 30.

Wike and Fubara had earlier met at the presidential villa on Tuesday, where President Bola Tinubu reportedly intervened in the political crisis rocking the Rivers State.

Tinubu intervenes in a feud between Wike and Fubara

Some political pundits have blamed Wike for the impeachment attempt on the governor. Many have accused the minister of being the move of the lawmakers who are orchestrating the action to impeach the governor.

But on Tuesday, President Tinubu used the opportunity of the Police Council meeting in which Wike and Fubara were in attendance to step into the feud and sue for peace between the two political gladiators.

President Tinubu's intervention was disclosed by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who addressed state correspondents after the police council's meeting, which was held at the State House in Abuja.

Legit.ng earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu has reportedly waded into the alleged feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, disclosed President Tinubu's intervention at a press briefing at the end of the police council meeting held in Abuja.

Mohammed, who is also the PDP governors' forum chairman, added that he and his colleagues in the opposition have resolved to work with President Tinubu because he had shown good faith.
