'Wait for your turn, you'll become governor after 12 years' - Akeredolu to Jegede

'Wait for your turn, you'll become governor after 12 years' - Akeredolu to Jegede. 'Wait for your turn, you'll become governor after 12 years' - Akeredolu to Jegede.

With less less than three months to the governorhip election in Ondo state, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has sent a warning to his arch-rival Eyitayo Jegede, saying he will have to wait for his turn to become governor.

Akeredolu made this known during inauguration of a campaign office donated to him in Akure on Tuesday, August 26, by an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Ife Oyedele.

The governor said the Ondo Central, where Jegede comes from, has produced governor and has exhausted its eight years, adding that power will still stay for four more years in the Ondo North where he hails from.

Speaking further, the governor said that after he is done with his eight years, the power will then be shifted to the Ondo South, and after that Jegede will take his chances.

“We need to work for the party. The APC will continue to rule this state forever if we organise ourselves based on principle. When I complete my four years in the North (senatorial district), it will go back to the South.

“The South will rule for another eight years and after that, it will come back to Ondo Central District. So, it is not yet the turn of Akure (Ondo Central). They should go and wait for their turn," Akeredolu said.
