Massive call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been called on by the citizens and various stakeholders to give up his seat as the president of the nation due to his seeming negligence of state issues.

According to most people, the country’s state of economy and insecurity has gotten worse since Buhari was re-elected into power.

The hashtag #BuhariMustResign was trending across social media platforms in Nigeria and the continent.

Obaseki’s certificate forgery

Governor Godwin Obaseki was dragged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, accused of forging his university certificate.

The accusation came while he was contesting the governorship election in Edo State.

But on June 27, the suit was struck out as lawyers for the plaintiffs and defendants failed to appear before the court.

He has since decamped from the APC to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on whose platform he won re-election.

Desmond Elliot’s speech on social media regulation

Actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot pushed for his fellow lawmakers to pay more attention to social media in the heat of the #EndSARS protests.

He made the speech at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Wednesday, October 26, 2020, while reacting to the topic ‘Effects and aftermath of #EndSARS protest in Lagos; destruction of monuments, public and private properties’.

His speech was criticized by social media users who rebuked him for referring to users as ‘children’ and for calling for social media regulation.
