The plot to unseat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seems to have failed as the Forum of All Progressives Congress State Chairmen has passed a vote of confidence in him.

The bigwigs in the party made their stance known during a visit to the party's secretariat in Abuja, where they pledged their allegiance to Ganduje.

According to the 37 state party chairmen, the coup to remove Ganduje failed while acting chairman of the forum and Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said they are solidly behind Ganduje and would defend him against external aggression.

“We are here to let you know that you remain the captain of the ship. After all, those who made the announcement were not even known to the party in the first place. We will not allow you to be embarrassed like the former chairmen of the party.

“What they wanted to do was a coup. But the coup has failed. We are here to show that we are solidly behind you anytime, any day,” he said.
