Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan has defended Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State after photos of him and President Bola Tinubu emerged online.

Otti, who was elected the governor of the state on the ticket of the Labour Party was seen in the company of River State Governor Sims Fubara and Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.

The Labour Party governor in the now-viral image was seen shaking hands with President Tinubu with a smile.

The photo has generated mixed reactions on social media with many questioning his motive. Jumping to his defense, however, Reno who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the move by the governor as a political one.

He further described complaints from Nigerians as political "immaturity".

"The fact that some people are angry that Alex Otti smiled at President Bola Tinubu proves my point that many Nigerians are not politically mature. They don't understand politics and are better suited for conflict," he wrote.

"They believe that if you never supported Tinubu during the #NigerianElections2023, you must hate him and attack whatever he does, irrespective of whether it is good or right for NIgeria. And that if you don't, you have either collected money from him, or want to join the APC. Change your mindset. This is not war."

"This is politics! Until the Supreme Court says otherwise, the man is our President. Even Buhari attended Aso Rock events under Jonathan and received awards while bowing to the then President."
