Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party has spoken for the first time since his leaked audio conversation with Bishop David Oyedepo emerged on social media.

The former Anambra governor came under fire after he told the popular cleric to convince Christians in the southwest and the northcentral region to vote for him prior to the February 28 presidential elections.

Obi in the now-viral tape said the polls had become a "religious war". The opposition capitalized on it and urged the Department of State Security to arrest Obi for heightening religious tensions. The Labour Party has since debunked the audio and said it was doctored.

Obi, who is yet to respond to the allegations took to his social media pages to congratulate Chinalurumogu Eze for winning the 2023 Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) Prize for the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy.

In a statement issued via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, Obi urged Eze “to go all out for victory as she represents Nigeria”.

Chinalurumogu Eze, a 300-level student in the Department of mass communication, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) was announced the winner on March 29 by CHINI Africa.

“My very warm congratulations to Chinalurumogu Eze for winning the 2023 Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) Prize for the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy.

“I urge @nalu_kings to go all out for victory as she represent Nigeria at the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy (RHSA) in the Cannes Lion Festival in France. May God Almighty, who sees your goodness and hard work grant you success,” Obi tweeted.
