PDP Crisis: Atiku on his own as Makinde snubs presidential hopeful in Ibadan

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar received a rousing welcome when he arrived in Ibadan, Oyo state for his campaign rally.

On Thursday, January 19, a massive crowd made their way to the campaign venue to support Atiku. However, the state governor, Seyi Makinde was reportedly absent at the rally.

Makinde who is a known PDP chieftain and a member of the G-5 governors, failed to welcome the party’s principal who was received by other party members.

Sharing the news of his arrival, Atiku took to his Twitter page to announce his presence in Oyo state with pictures.

Atiku tweeted:

"I just landed in Ibadan for what promises to be a historic political rally"

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde has been known to be among the aggrieved governors of the PDP who have refused to take part in Atiku’s presidential campaign rally until the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu resigns his position.

The G-5 led by Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike are demanding for a southern leadership as the presidential candidate and the national chairman are from the same tribe.
