Nobody has the power to influence who becomes my successor in 2023 - Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, on Sunday, hinted that nobody, but God, had the power and means to influence who succeeds him in 2023.

The Governor also described politicians as the most ungrateful people on earth, who, even though occupy political positions, would be scheming on the next one when the Government that brings them to power elapses, without showing gratitude to God.

Umahi alleged that many politicians in the state were in the habit of jettisoning state functions, but were attending the ones outside the state in their poise to wield influence from outside the state and determine who became what, come 2023.

The Governor stated at a Special Thanksgiving Service at Christ Embassy, Mile 50 Abakaliki the state capital, on Sunday.

According to him, there would be immense prayers, soon, across the 13 local government areas of the state to enable God to chose crops of leaders that would emerge after him. He said was expedient in order to s to prevent the state from being plunged back into its rescued "era of darkness."

He said, “I will say that politicians are the most ungrateful people on earth, even to God. When God has delivered them, the next move is to start looking at another posts; it’s a very terrible thing.

“A lot of our people, when there is a state programme here, will not come; but when there is programme outside the state, they will go there believing that the leadership of this state can be influenced from outside. We have come of age and nobody can influence the elective or appointive positions in this state from outside the state; it’s not possible. And all those people who are going to occultic powers or herbalists on this, as far as I came in the name of the Lord, will all be disgraced.

“The next crop of leaders will come from God in this state and we will mount serious prayers on this in all the local government areas. It is going to be a battle because the soul of this state is at stake. The light has come in Ebonyi State and nobody can quench the light."

Umahi equally said that every ploy to manipulate the leadership of the state from outside the state or through occultic means would be repelled, adding that a greater number of Ebonyi people would be empowered in 2020
