The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has noted that Nigerians are not ready for a president of Igbo extraction as the presidential elections draw near.

Uzor Kalu made the submission when he spoke to Channels Television's morning show on Wednesday, February 22.

He also noted that the Igbo's get too emotional when political issues arise.

"I am not sure that Nigerians are not ready for a president of Igbo extraction. I have tried to nose around that and gone close to Nigerians, I have tried to put one and two together. We have five regions and we want other regions to contest. I am not sure, maybe we are having is not what I am thinking in my head because most of our people here ae good doctors, good lawyers, good commercial people."

"So I still want them to go and see and realize that the politics we have in our mind are not about emotions. We do politics with emotions and I want the Igbos to stop that. I want Igbos to do practical politics that will be able to drive Nigeria if we really want to be in the community of Nigeria."
