Nasarawa PDP lawmaker defects to APC

Maiyaki David, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing Karu/Gitata State Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This was made known to members of the house and the general public by the Speaker of the Assembly Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi who read the defection letter of the lawmaker.

He said Maiyaki left his former party for the APC in the best interest of his people.

“With the defection of David Maiyaki, we now have 10 Assembly members from the zone, all in APC. Our doors are still open and am still expecting the remaining four members to join us soon,” the Speaker said.

As it stands at the moment, APC has 20 members; PDP has three members and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) one.

David Maiyaki said that he has decided to join the APC in the best interest of the people of his constituency and the state at large, The Nations said.

Maiyaki, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Lands and Survey said he consulted with his people on his decision to move from the PDP to the APC.
