President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has reacted to the death of his personal bodyguard, Lawal Mato.

Buhari said Mato was “very thorough, trustworthy and a dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus."

Deeply saddened by the loss of his close associate, the President prayed that Allah will ease his passage to paradise and grant his family, government and people of Jigawa the fortitude to bear the loss.

Earlier today, Personal Assistant on New Media to Buhari, Bashir Ahmad announced the death of Buhari's personal bodyguard, Warrant Officer, Lawal Mato.

Mato died after three years of struggling with diabetes.

Prior to this, Mr Mato had been working with the President for many years before he won the 2015 elections.

This is the second loss in just four days for Buhari who lost his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, last week.
