The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso says the best way to tackle the infrastructural deficit in the health sector is if the political elites patronize health institutions in the country than those abroad.

The former Kano Central Senator who spoke at Arise News Presidential Town Hall Series on Education, Poverty, and Healthcare on Sunday, December 4 said the high taste of the political class in health tourism has driven local healthcare to the ground.

He also noted that as someone who is a veteran in politics, he has no investment outside of Nigeria. He noted that all don't have a single account anywhere.

"I think leaders should lead from the back and not from the front. You see this idea that our leaders developed over the years that even if they have malaria they will travel abroad, some of them have chosen particular countries. Some chose Britain, France, Dubai, and so on and so forth. That shouldn't be acceptable."

"We have to try and build confidence. If you go outside for health check-ups, your PAA and Ministers will copy from you."

"And that is why I personally decide that whatever investment I have is in this country. I don't have one single account anywhere in the world, except in Nigeria. I don't have any house, any business around the world, I want to build the confidence of those who believe in Nigeria."
