KogiDecides2023: There was a deliberate plot to ensure that I finish third - Dino Melaye alleges

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, has alleged that some group of opposition leaders plotted his third-place finish in the polls.

He described last Saturday's exercise as an allocation of votes and not an election.

The ruling APC's candidate Usman Ododo was declared the winner of the polls after he garnered 446,237 votes to defeat his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka who polled 259,052.

Dino Melaye finished a distant third after he managed just 46,362 votes.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Channels TV's 'Politic Today' programme the PDP candidate said:

“A meeting was held and they said, ‘Dino Melaye must not come second because if he comes second, it’s dangerous… so, he must become a distant third.’ There was no election; there was only allocation of votes.”

“Normally, Ajaka should not be excited that he won one, two, or three local governments in the East. It was allocated.
