Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu has said the governors who have gone against President Buhari's order on the naira redesign policy are right to do so despite coming from the same political party.

The former Abia governor made this known in an exclusive interview on Arise TV.

Recall that 10 governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have criticized the president's decision to go contrary to the Supreme Court ruling that had earlier stopped the Central Bank of Nigeria from banning the N200, N500 and N1000 notes as legal tender.

According to him, what the governors have done so far is lawful while recalling when he took President Olusegun Obasanjo to the Supreme Court for an interpretation of the law.

He said: "My party is not against President Buhari, my party is just respecting the rule of law. Remember, when I was governor, I was in PDP. I was the first governor to take President Obasanjo to the Supreme Court. It is not anything new for governors to take presidents to court for an interpretation of the law. Its not anything new. What they have just done is the right thing to do."
