Governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun has urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient amid the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Ahmed Tnubu.

The President on May 29, during his Inaugural ceremony, announced the removal of fuel subsidies, a move which has generated a lot of talks among Nigerians following the hardships which ensued the directive.

To ease the pain, the government announced the roll-out of cash palliative to help Nigerians cope with the challenges of subsidy removal.

Speaking on Channels Tv's Politic Today show with Shehu, Governor Dapo Abiodun noted that the decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove fuel subsidies was a step in the right direction.

Despite the current difficulties, Gov Abiodun assured Nigerians that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“There's definitely a renewed hope and that has sustained us up till this point. It is the first time any administration will deregulate by such a wide margin and you will not see protest because people understand that there can't be any game without some play.

“My plea to Nigerians is that they should continue to be patient with us and hold on and there is light at the end of the tunnel.”

He added that the future benefits of the subsidy removal far outweigh the challenges the country will experience.

The Ogun State governor has approved N10,000 cash palliatives as a relief package for civil servants in the state which takes effect from July.
