Kehinde Akinyemi, the Media Aide of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has rubbished claims about the former Statesman hiring a Russian Lawyer to represent the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi ahead of the Election Tribunal hearing.

Rumours concerning the ex-president hiring a Russian-based legal practitioner for Obi spread across various handles on social media prior to the Election Tribunal pre-hearing session on Monday, May 8.

Some social media posts about the so-called powerful Russian female Lawyer, ‘Natalia Veselnitskaya’ as gathered by Legit.ng included the following:

"Obasanjo flies in World-Class Russian lawyer “Natalia Veselnitskaya” to defend Peter Obi ahead of Monday’s Presidential court case,” one of the tweets read.

“According to reports, she is the most dangerous lawyer in the whole world with an unbeatable record” the tweet from the user @SpecialConvenant added.

Another tweet read: “She has never lost a case before. She is the special adviser to President “Putin” and was the same lawyer woman that defeated America in a court case against heavy sanctions on Russia. According to reports, she doesn’t believe in adjournment, she stands for you once in court”.

Reacting to the claims, Kehinde Akinyemi referred to them as mere rumours which are false and misleading.

“It is a rumour that is unconfirmed, and it has got nothing to do with Obasanjo. Also, it is not from a credible medium,” Akinyemi stated.

Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar are both challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential poll which saw INEC declare the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect.
