Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi has declared his interest to contest for president in the 2023 presidential elections.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Governor Umahi hinted of his intentions to unite the country when elected president.

According to him, in order to move the country forward, there will be a dialogue with all the leaders of the various regions and institutions in Nigeria.

“The major activity that will move this country forward is to sit down and with all the leaders of all the regions, to seat down with all the various institutions of our community and to begin to discuss and the simple question is, do we agree to move this country forward?” he said.

The state governor noted that “this country cannot continue the way it is and you expect the youth to fold their hands. It is for me a thing of gunpowder and it has nothing to do with who is the president and who is not the president so the patriotism must be of the first agenda of my intention, the second one is how to unite this country.

And the unity of this country is very important and everybody knows that we are in the same ship and if the ship capsizes that we all go down and so, we begin to note that and then to discuss about how to create the economy and I think that with God’s grace and with his knowledge and with my business background, I am working with leaders and gov’t because I think these things are possible and I am at peace with them.”

Dave Umahi declared his interest to run on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday at the State House in Abuja.

He made this known a day after national leader of the APC party and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, revealed his plan to run for the office on the ticket of the party.
