'Don’t vote for parochial leaders' - Tambuwal cautions Nigerians

The governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has cautioned Nigerians to avoid voting parochial leaders as they go to the polls in 2023.

He rather advised Nigerians to look out for and vote for politicians who are versatile and friendly with fellow Nigerians across all geopolitical zones to promote national unity.

He said this on Monday, November 22, 2021, in an address during the 4th annual criminal law review conference of the Rule of Law Development Foundation with the theme: ‘Judicial updates and legislative developments in criminal law: Criminal procedure law, criminal policy and evidence,’ in Abuja.

According to him, citizens should elect “friends and associates across the length and breadth of the country”.

This, he said was necessary if the nation must surmount its current security and economic challenges.

Tambuwal further said, Nigeria does not need a “parochial and provincial politician”, but “an incorruptible leader who understands that the best way to fight corruption is by personal examples.”
