A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Emmanuel Ogidi, has expressed optimism that politicians who defected from the party will surely return.
Ogidi made this statement during a live appearance on Trust TV on Wednesday.
The elder statesman was speaking on the mass exodus of politicians, especially governors from the PDP into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
DAILY POST had reported that the last of the defectors was the governor of Adamawa State, Almadu Fintiri.
He questioned how a governor who is supposed to be independent in his state claims to want to align with the centre by defecting to the ruling party.
When asked if the Adamawa Governor vilified the party before he left, Ogidi described Fintiri as a gentleman who did not speak ill of the party before leaving.
According to him, with what is happening at the political space of Nigeria, the nation is no longer practising democracy.
“I believe some persons who decamped from PDP will return,” he said.
