A fight broke out between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) local government council chairman and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over election materials ahead of Saturday polls.

It was reported that as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials were offloading the election materials at the Brass local government area of Bayelsa State, a misunderstanding occurred.

The two political parties were said to have disagreed over where the materials should be kept ahead of tomorrow governorship election.

As a result, the Brass Local Government Area PDP Chairman, named Bara Daniel was allegedly injured in the head by supporters of the APC, led by the former council chairman, Victor Isaiah.

In an interview with SaharaReporters, Isaiah denied having any hand in the assault on Bara Daniel. According to him, he rather calmed the situation as Mr Daniel was intimidating APC supporters over how to secure the election materials.

“I was there actually to monitor the process of the materials offloading but the PDP chairman kept making derogatory statements which unsettled some people but I was able to calm the situation,” Isaiah said.

Upon arrival of some military personnel, normalcy was restored.

It has been gathered that the Chairman of Brass Local Government Area, Mr. Alabo Hanson Karika has condemned the attack on the PDP Chairman of Brass LGA as he called on the security operatives to be on guard to prevent further occurrences.
