Following the violent protest that occurred after the Supreme Court nullified the election of All Progressive Candidate, David Lyon, the Nigerian Police Force, Bayelsa State Command have swiftly responded by imposing a curfew across eight Local Government Areas of the state.

State Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozie announced that the curfew would last three days from the hours of 8 pm to 6 am in a press briefing today.

He promised to deal with anyone caught violating the directive.

This morning, a mob occupied major streets and the Government house bearing APC flags as they went about vandalizing properties, protesting their displeasure over the supreme court ruling.

The Peoples Democratic Party secretariat in Yenagoa was destroyed as well as the private residence of the former governor of the state, Seriake Dickson, and the Bayelsa Broadcasting Corporation.

Recent developments have however revealed that the People’s Democratic Party candidate, Diri Duoye, alongside his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo have been sworn in as Governor and deputy governor of Bayelsa State, respectively.
