Ahead of the forthcoming Ondo state governorship election, Jimoh Ibrahim has predicted that APC will receive more defectors

The business mogul who disclosed this told the ruling party to open its doors to receive more defectors from PDP and other political parties.
According to him, the people were happy with the achievement of the APC government in Ondo.

The political tempo in Ondo is rising as the southwest state prepares for another civic duty to elect a new governor in October.

In light of this, Business mogul Jimoh Ibrahim has told the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo to open its doors to receive more defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties, The Nation reports.

Ibrahim disclosed this on Wednesday, August 19, when he received the APC working committee led by the Chairman, Ade Adetimehin.

The business mogul speaking at his country home in Igbotako, Okitipupa local government, said the people of Ondo were happy with the giant strides of the APC government.

According to Ibrahim, the governor of Ondo, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had steered the ship of the state from financial strangulation.

While noting that he would soon respond to Adetimehin's request to join the APC, Ibrahim said Akeredolu's secret to success was that he had more strength and less of weakness.

The APC working committee chairman urged Ibrahim to join the ruling party so that they could join forces to win and retain the state for more projects.

He said: “While I promise to sleep over your request, let me advise you to open your doors for thousands of defectors that are set to join the APC. They are joining from the Peoples Democratic Party and other parties.

“I will be supportive of the re-election bid of Akeredolu. The governor will win the governorship election with a wide margin."
Legit.ng reported that the bid by the PDP to take over from the APC in Ondo state is getting more difficult as the ruling party gains more followers from other parties.

More members of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and African Democratic Party (ADP) have defected to the APC. The former ZLP and ADP members joined the APC in Ondo West local government area.

Receiving the new members, the chairman of the APC in Ondo state, Ade Adetimehin, said the state might soon become a one-party state following the number of prominent politicians defecting from other parties to the APC.

In a related development, the APC members in Ondo state have settled their differences ahead of the coming governorship election.

With this, members of the Unity Forum arm of the party have officially dissolved the body and blended into the campaign team of Governor Akeredolu.

This forum was headed by a former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi and had vowed to ensure Akeredolu does not return for a second term in office. But this failed as a result of the internal wrangling within the forum.
