Ajayi has declared that he would defeat Akeredolu

The deputy governor accused Akeredolu of not performing for the people of Ondo state

Going further, he alleged that Akeredolu personalised government in the state

Ondo state deputy governor and governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, has given reasons he will emerge victorious at the polls on October 10.

He boasted that he would defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede and the standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Ajayi said the ruling APC had failed the people with what he termed lacklustre performance of Governor Akeredolu, adding that the PDP had no structure to win election in Ondo State.

The deputy governor spoke while receiving former PDP members in Okitipupa Local Government, led by a former governorship aspirant, Mr. Banji Okunomo and an ex-chairman of the local government, Mr. Solomon Bitire.

He said PDP breached the zoning arrangement and would, therefore, be punished by voters.

Ajayi said the achievements of Akeredolu in the last three and a half years fell short of people’s expectations, as the governor had personalised government.

In Akure South where Ajayi received some former APC members led by the party’s Secretary, Mr. Olukayode Abiodun, the deputy governor said the people would punish Akeredolu with their votes.

He hailed the defectors for displaying high level of patriotism.

Recall that Legit.ng had reported that Banji Okunomo, governorship aspirant of the PDP, resigned his membership of the party in what climaxed the political grievances that trailed the primary election in Ondo state.

Okunomo dumped the party on Monday, September 7, and pitched his tents with the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Okitipupa local government.

The former PDP chieftain contested for the opposition party's guber ticket but lost to Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu hit hard at his predecessor in office, Olusegun Mimiko, over the incoming governorship election in the state.

The governor also berated the embattled state deputy governor and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the election, Agboola Ajayi.

Legit.ng gathered that Akeredolu, who spoke in a television interview monitored by the newspaper, said some people were never qualified to be Ondo governor.

Legit.ng had also reported that with barely a month to the Ondo gubernatorial election, political alignments are beginning to unfold among politicians across parties in the state.

A former attorney-general of the state, Remi Olatubora resigns, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
