Adeleke wins Osun governorship appeal

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has delivered judgment in favour of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.

The Court in its judgment set aside the decision of the Osun State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal.

The Court which upheld the governorship of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun State also awarded cost to the first and second respondent.

Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had defeated Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 16, 2022 Osun gubernatorial election.

In the Osun Election Petition Tribunal on January 27, 2023, the victory of Adeleke was upturned and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) directed to issue Adegboyega Oyetola with a Certificate of Return as duly elected governor.

However, Adeleke approached the Appeal Court in Abuja which set aside firday, March 24, 2023 as judgment day.
