The youth wing of the governing All Progressives Congress on Monday said it was proposing a convocation of an Inter-generational National Equity Conference as part of measures to resolve the various  lingering national issues.

A member of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee and the National Youth leader of the party, Ismaeel Ahmed, said this while speaking to newsmen after a meeting of some stakeholders at the APC national secretariat Abuja, on Monday.

He said the planned conference would among other things propose a template on how best to rebuild public confidence in government and trust in our leaders.

Ahmed said, “As young people in the governing party we try to aggregate ideas and opinions of various stakeholders within the party to see how we can proceed on how to bring this seemingly disturbing situation to an end.

“This is a conference where government is going to come to the table and discuss with some youths on the need to see that this country belongs to every one of us and whatever we do now will echo for eternity or at least, the next 30years and those people who are going to lead in that next 30 years should be part of the discussion on how to reshape this country.

“This is a conversation that we need to have, it’s a conversation we are pushing the government to have. It’s a conversation that hopefully we will have when this is all over and we can have a real conversation on how to move our country forward.”

Speaking about the ongoing #EndSARS protests, the youth leader said it was within the democratic rights of citizens to hold peaceful protests. He, however, advised the youths not to allow fifth columnists to hijack the protest.
