APC, PDP, LP, others lack identity, ideology - Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, is of the belief that political parties in Nigeria lack identity and ideology.

The former Governor of Kano State said this during the inauguration of party zonal coordinators across the country.

According to him, defections from one political party to the other is the result of lack of identity and ideology. He therefore called for a change in attitudes.

During the inauguration, Ganduje named Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma as the coordinator for the South East, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State as the coordinator for the North-Central, and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State as the coordinator for North East.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State was appointed as the North West coordinator, while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will serve as South West coordinator and Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River as the South-South coordinator.

Speaking to the new zonal coordinators, Ganduje said;

“They should liaise with the party to commence the immediate process of genuine reconciliation of aggrieved members in the geo-political zone.

“Mobilise governors of the zones to effectively and physically participate in the party’s activities in the zone, consult with governors and resolve issues that will further enhance its progress and unity.

“They are to also assist the party on resource mobilisation in serving the party and participate in any other activity that may be assigned by the party.

“We want to change the narrative, we want our political party to be active throughout the year, therefore, all our offices must be physically operational; all our offices must be functionally operational.”

“Right from the local government to state level, there must be activities throughout, but this cannot happen by chance,” he said.

Uzodimma, who is also the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the party for the initiative.

He also applauded Ganduje saying; “We are very delighted and happy that the party in its wisdom, introduced this new policy of proper coordination, we at the PGF have a membership of 20 governors which means 20 states currently being governed by APC.”

“We have to start from there to ensure an inclusive participation of all our party members, and to take this participation to the grassroots, I think that is the wisdom behind this inauguration,” he said.
