The Obidient Movement has refuted claims suggesting that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 polls, is uncertain about the political platform on which he intends to contest the 2027 presidential election.

There have been speculations that Obi is in limbo following reports of his alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which recently adopt­ed him as part of its coalition to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The opposition coalition directed its members, including Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to resign from their current political parties and fully join the ADC, which it adopted as its platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The directive was announced in Abuja on Thursday, September 25, by the ADC’s national spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, following a caucus meeting attended by senior party leaders and prominent political figures.

But speaking with Daily Indepen­dent on Thursday, September 25, Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, in­sisted that Obi remains focused on his political mission of 'rescuing Nigeria'.

Tanko said: “That is completely false. It has been firmly established that Mr. Peter Obi remains a member of the Labour Party.

“Mr. Peter Obi is not confused at all. In fact, he is very focused on the goals and objectives he is aiming towards. I have never seen a man who is as focused on what he believes he can do for the coun­try if elected president as Peter Obi. He has his eyes on the ball and will not allow himself to be distracted from his mission to res­cue Nigerians from the misrule and hardship they are currently experiencing."
