Alwan Hassan, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has tipped President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win the 2027 election.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 5, in an interview on Channel TV's Politics Today programme, monitored by Legit.ng, Hassan said the north will not vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, because he is allegedly an alcohol apologist.
Hassan said:
"President Tinubu is going to win. Who else do you think will defeat Asiwaju (referring to Tinubu) in 2027? That was on your programme saying he wants the north to support and trust him? In the same programme, he is celebrating building breweries in Anambra state and being the biggest supporter of alcohol. And he wants the north to vote for him? We will vote for a president that will import alcohol in the north?
"Or is it those ones that are saying their wives are taking care of them? We cannot hand over this country to men that are being fed by their wives. We want a man that is in charge of his house. We don't want a man that a woman is feeding."

Obi defends Anambra brewery investment
Legit.ng recalls that in June, Obi said that the Intafact Beverages Limited brewery in Onitsha—commonly known as the SABMiller brewery—remains the state’s single largest source of revenue and a major contributor to local employment.
Speaking during an interview with Arise News, Obi addressed criticisms surrounding the government’s investment in the brewery during his tenure.
