2023 Presidential Election: LP, PDP demand resignation of INEC Chair, cancellation of results

The Labour Party, LP, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the African Democratic Congress, ADC have demanded the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The political parties made the demand at a joint press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

Recall that the agents of major opposition parties at the national collation centre in Abuja, on Monday, walked out of the venue in protest at the exercise.

Dino Melaye and Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP had accused the INEC of violating the Electoral Act by going ahead with the result collation and announcement despite not uploading the results on the iREV portal.

The National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure noted that the parties and the all Nigerians can not afford to elect wrong leaders.

He said, “What we are doing now is what our member want and the yearnings of Nigerians. What we are doing is also a due process.

“The cost will be high but that’s part of the sacrifices we need to make now. The cost of bad governance is higher than electing bad leaders,” he added.
