Twelve die from coronavirus complications in Nasarawa

No fewer than 12 persons have so far lost their lives due to complications from Coronavirus disease in Nasarawa State.

Speaking to journalists trained on Coronavirus reporting on Friday, August 13, 2020, the Deputy Director of Public Health in the state Ministry of Health, Dr Liman Mohammed, noted that as of Thursday, the state had 371 cases.

He said 264 persons had been successfully treated and discharged, adding that Karu Local Government Area had the highest with 120 cases followed by Lafia with 108 and Keffi with 90 cases, among others.

Mohammed, who is also the Manager of Emergency Operation Centre of the state Coronavirus response team, said, “So far, about twelve 12 persons have lost their lives to high complications of Coronavirus in the state.”

The journalists were trained by Breakthrough Action-Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation.

While calling on the members of the public to always adhere to Coronavirus safety protocols, including regular washing of hands, use of face masks and adherence to physical distancing, he admonished the people to take personal responsibility to contain further spread of the virus.
